Unproductive Outcomes

Not good things to do in business:

  •     Arriving late (although people do get held up from time to time)
  •     Going home early
  •     Going on your smart phone a lot (social media)
  •     Standing around for long periods of time when you have been given orders.
  •     Throwing out your high visibility
  •     Running down pedestrians in the work car! :(
  •     Operating machinery under the influence of drugs
  •     ...

You should give the job a go!

A Summary of Just-In-Time Inventory and applying it to Personal Assets in your house

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/j/jit.asp

To summarise the disadvantages of not being Lean
(this is in terms of accumulating stuff inside your house) include:

  •    Cost of Storage Space
  •    Natural Depreciation
  •    Physical Items can all get Damaged / Lost / or Stolen ~ or equivalently there is an Insurance Cost
  •    Opportunity Cost of Cash

Whilst this might discourage hoarding we all still need to purchase physical items for our use and our enjoyment!

Jewellery and Wine might not be great investments but you enjoy the Jewellery, Wine etc ... no need to be so boring all the time and perpetually thinking about your bottom dollar!

List of Equipment for better organising your Building Materials @ home

Protective Personal Equipment

  1. Pair of Gloves (which still allows you some dexterity)
  2. Hearing Protection

Tool Storage

  • A (right size) Toolbox or Tool Bag to store all of the mentioned

Tools

  1. Pliers for cutting wire (e.g. diagonal pliers or the cutting edge of needle-nose pliers)
  2. Hammer or Mallet
  3. Safety Knife
  4. Angle Grinder (for cutting metal, plastic etc ...)
  5. Power Saw (very handy for making straight cuts across wood - but don't go near it unless you know how to use one safely & don't put your fingers near the blade !!)
  6. Ladder (which hopefully folds up - make sure you know how to use them!!)
  7. ...

Human Resources in Construction

For all you lovely HR girls (and guys) out there:

  1. WHS
  2. EEO
  3. Protective Equipment

Plenty of small extras that could be added in to make a BIG difference:

  • Filtered (or Bottled) Water on Site
  • Availability of Hot Water
  • Smelly Portaloos (and not really functioning)!
  • Many different ethnic backgrounds at a building site - some of them a still struggling to learn English!
  • Lollies make a big difference in physical work!
  • Same with fancy drinks, coffee etc ... if you want to get people around for a talk ~ and there's so much $$$ in property!
  • Part time / flexible rosters for Brickies Labouring - such a difficult job and difficult to get staff!
  • Daily allowance (FBT considerations) where there is no drinkable water or hot water on a small building site

  • ...

The division of labour and assignment of tasks could also use a bit of polishing ~ they're still giving out micro-tasks which is not that efficient!

You will need to understand the Construction industry though -
Whitecard and Asbestos indispensable.

I think lots of Construction companies could have a think about sprucing up their Marketing to Customers and Hiring!
