Everyone is an Information Worker!

Everyone needs information, it is not just confined to working in an office!

Everyone needs to share e-mail, documents, messaging, calendaring etc ... perhaps on a BYOD mobile device where the company pays them an allowance!

What are the terrible alternatives?

  • Placing printed notes on walls - wall space is precious as then you lose the opportunity to use racks, shelves etc to save floor space
  • Having to waste precious table space in the kitchen or kitchen cupboards
  • Having to use outside systems - SMS, facebook, etc ... eventually this reaches its limits
  • Information doesn't get to the right person at the right time = reduced Productivity

Example of a Risk Matrix in action ~ Property Loss at a Workplace

Close to Liquid Assets

Examples: Coins, mobile phones, credit cards
These should never be left at a workplace and would fall in the 'Extremely Likely' category

Equipment and Inventory

Examples: Tools, stocks, etc ...
These probably need to be left at a workplace with appropriate security measures - and would fall in the 'Low to Medium' likelihood category
At least covered up out of view, inside a locked area etc ...

Occurrences of Asbestos Register Schema

A List Schema

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vwChmwfCU7j7LIZG2vBMttm1f5i_za6p

Also important to note that different organisations working with Asbestos will form different views and capture slightly different information (their own information) on the same occurrence of asbestos.

Advantages of Australian Property to Chinese (and other Asian markets)

With:

  1. Abundance of space
  2. Clean Air
  3. Clean Water
  4. Plentiful and good quality Building Materials

Good Government facilities of course, play a part:

  • Electricity
  • Water (Sewerage, etc ...)
  • Roads, transport
  • etc ...

Hence Residential Property as in:

Australian vs. Chinese Property is an example of Comparative Advantage:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparative_advantage

Once again, the Chinese market is an 'Enabler' for the rest of Asia - Pacific!

Similar to the way the US is a 'driving force' for foreign policy - exporting to the Chinese market is a way of tapping into the rest of the World!

Asbestos es Register

Every business (legally) has to maintain it's own Asbestos es Register if you work at building sites likely to contain Asbestos.

Hence this forms an Incidence of Asbestos Register.

Occurrence: Custom List to note down across multiple sites
Workplace: Custom List (could potentially use Contact List)

Of course could be expanded to have:

  • More detailed descriptions -> Multiple Lines of Text
  • Pictures of the Asbestos
  • Link to the Asbestos Assessor
  • etc ...

STEM for Construction

I know Builders are great with working with their hands but once you get to the top;

How about a quick course on Physics, Chemistry and Specialists Mathematics (Calculus) and how it applies to the Construction game!

Its always tough trying to learn this stuff at school when you can't see much relevance to what you're currently doing!

Something for Master Builders and the Housing Industry to look at ...

Kerbside Recycling from Builders Sites

Just a handy tip -

I had a leaking tap outside where I am staying and I grabbed a free piece of small wood thrown out from a building site to help me tighten the tap - or if you need to grab a piece of wood to hammer a door back in place without damaging the door etc ...

Building sites throw out A LOT of the following - something to keep in mind if you can find a use for them (for whatever reason) and save more stuff from going to the tip!
  • Bricks (if you're not too picky on condition)
  • Leftover Timber (if you don't mind the sizes)
They also get rid of (fairly often):
  • Wooden Pallets
  • Wood suitable for firewood
So if a wooden pallet would help in moving a whole bunch of stuff around and you have a pallet jack might be worth asking nicely to your local builder!

Note the following classification among st Equipment as Tools & PPE are subject to differing:

[NB: this is one of many possible classifications (up to each company in the end to decide how they wish to classify)]
  1. Depreciation Schedules
  2. Scrap Values
  3. Etc ...

Observations on Australian Business Ownership Structures

https://www.business.gov.au/planning/business-structures-and-types

Partnership

This could now be obsolete - with multiple directors now it is easier to simply incorporate a Company and not worth messing around with a Partnership - small partnerships (e.g. husband & wife team) can continue to operate as Sole Traders

Trusts

I personally wouldn't' recommend this for running any sort of serious company that employs people etc ... - more as an instrument to record a company on your financials than anything else ...
